Time for the next up in our series of places in the Greater Boston area to grab a quick lunch or snack and in this instance, oh-so-much-more at Debra’s Natural Gourmet.
The Scoop:
Located in West Concord, Massachusetts, Debra’s Natural Gourmet has been a staple of the local community since its inception in 1989. Focusing on providing the freshest and best products, there’s no other place, in my opinion, that comes close to Debra’s in both quality and service. Part shopping market and part café, everything that enters and leaves the store is organic and sustainably grown. Be it the sandwiches, soups, and numerous side dishes made daily for take out or the fresh produce grown locally, everything is done the natural organic way. Not only is everything fresh (have I said that yet?) I think their prices for lunch are extremely reasonable.
What to be on the look out for:
Normally I list only one item here, but after going to Debra’s, you’ll understand that one does not simply get “an item” for lunch, there are so many to choose from. So what are my favorite items to get for lunch? Well, for starters, the Cheddar & Mustard sandwich. Simple and elegant, there aren’t many ingredients to the sandwich, but the taste it packs speaks volumes. To go with it, I would recommend the veggie chili, which is packed with black beans, kidney beans, chickpeas, carrots, and much more, and seasoned with spices—it’s one zesty soup (it also comes with a piece of foccacia bread, your choice of whole wheat or gluten free). 
And if you’re sharing with your co-workers, like we do, grab a side of the couscous which is fluffy and light, mixed with chickpeas, feta, olives and lightly dressed in cider vinegar and olive oil. Everything about Debra’s lives up to its mantra “Eat Well, Be Happy.”
As an added bonus, many items are vegetarian or vegan!
