Shop Small Map: 2018

Shop Small Saturday 2018 is November 24th. We are fortunate to have an abundance of small shops to frequent year-round and during the holidays! We asked our agents what their favorite stores to stop in for gifts are to prepare our Saturday plans. The recommendations were abundant!

Acton, MA

Handworks was suggested by Linda VanEmburgh. VanEmburgh said, "Handworks in Acton has the most distinctive, artistic gifts."

Concord, MA

"Favorite holiday small shop… hands down Nestings!" said Anna Travias. A favorite of many, this name popped up with agents and staff alike!

Revolutionary Concord was also a repeated recommendation, mentioned by owner, staff, relocation department, and our agent Nancy Wright.

A new addition to the center of Concord, Graham was mentioned by Laurie Cadigan.

Sharing a good laugh, Laura McKenna mentioned Priscilla's Candy Store, my favorite local shop for holiday gifts, quality chocolate truffles packaged beautifully, and they make the most gorgeous chocolate Santa Claus. Just don't put them in the stockings when there's a fire! Did that!"

Lexington, MA

Bobbi Tornheim mentioned the Holiday Marketplace of LexArt. Tornheim said, "Over 150 local Artisans sell hand made crafts priced from $5 to $1,200. Jewelry, hand woven clothing items, wooden bowls and boxes, some furniture, some excellent children's toys and puzzles, painting, photography, note cards, wide range of ceramics, sweaters, etc. Much of the work is Gallery  Quality." Tornheim also mentioned the location, 130 Waltham Street in Lexington, open November 30th through December 23rd from 10 AM to 5 PM most days.

Lincoln, MA

Something Special in Lincoln was noted twice, first by Terese Surrette who said "They have something special for everyone on your list."

In Lincoln, Terry Perlmutter mentioned the Old Town Hall Exchange.

Surrounding Towns

Although our offices are located in the towns mentioned above, as well as Bedford and Carlisle, they are not the only places we are fortunate to enjoy!

In Littleton, Cataldo's came up more than once. "They decorate dozens of trees with themed ornaments, have great stocking stuffers, and fun unique items," said Karen Wallace.

Nicolette Mascari also suggested B Happy in Wayland, MA, with great gifts for any home.

We hope you'll have the opportunity to visit one of the towns we get to call home during your holiday shopping this year!

Celebrate Halloween with Barrett | Sotheby's International Realty!

Each year we enjoy celebrating Halloween with the community. As in past years, we're excited to distribute treats and blinkers to the kids in our towns, and we hope to see you there. If these are out of your plans, you can also stop by our Acton office at 525 Massachusetts Avenue for a blinker!

Bringing Your Interests Home: Finding the Right Space is Key

Heading for the home stretch of summer can mean a lot of things, but it should never mean the end of the fun! For car aficionados the summer and fall months are golden, filled with car events all over.

This coming weekend alone there are Chevelle and El Caminos to see in Westford, the Sons of Italy Car Show in Wilmington, the New Marlborough Classic Car Show, the Whitinsville Cars in The Park, and the Road Devils Boston Massacre in East Bridgewater!

When you’re looking to bring your interests home however, finding the right space is key.

If you or a loved one are a tinkerer or a well-skilled craftsman, you are surely aware that not all hobbies are odorless or quiet. That’s where the builder of 15 Charles Street, Bedford, MA one of our recently listed new construction properties, says his garage stands out from the competition. In fact, he highlights this as a selling-point for the garages he built there, “For the car community, a big advantage is having the garage detached from the house.”

For the car community, a big advantage is having the garage detached from the house.

The garage at 15 Charles Street not only allows for car enthusiasts to enjoy their interests, but also provide space that could be used for snowmobiles, boats, or tools for tradesmen. Ample loft space allows for storage of additional tools and items that are necessary for winter or summer hobbies such as skis, snowboards, beach gear, and more. The epoxy floor allows durability for all types of work, and the heated office space just off the garage adds an opportunity for tranquility when the problem just won’t be fixed!

Celebrating Home and Community this Fourth of July

There are few things we love as much as home, community, and celebrations!

What better way to spend time than to celebrate our history in our communities, then? We’ve compiled our local events in one quick list for you!

Concord, Massachusetts

Join locals for the annual Picnic-in-the-Park on July 4th at Emerson Field (90 Stow Street). The event starts at 10 am and includes a parade and a concert band.

Lexington, Massachusetts

The Lexington Lion’s Club puts on the annual Fourth of July Carnival at Hastings Park from July 4th through July 7th. The celebration includes fireworks on July 5th at 9:30 pm at the Lexington High School Baseball Field (Worthen Road).

Lincoln, Massachusetts

Lincoln celebrates with a run, bike parade, reading of the Declaration of Independence, grand parade, cook-out, swim, and fireworks! Fireworks occur at 9:45 pm at Codman Field (1 Ballfield Road), but a schedule for all activities can be found here.

Boston, Massachusetts

Independence Day celebrations in Boston begin with Boston Harborfest, an event already in motion! The festival goes through July 4th and includes historical reenactments, cruises, and food-specific events.

Adjacent to Harborfest is The Boston Pops Firework Spectacular. There is a concert on the evening of July 3rd to begin the festivities and another on July 4th, beginning at 8 pm with fireworks to conclude the celebration at 10:30 pm.

If you like the sound of that, but not the commute, many of our own Bedford agents head to Arlington to watch the Firework Spectacular from Robbins Farm Park.

Enjoy the celebrations!
