Living in Reading
Reading, a pretty New England town approximately 12 miles north of Boston, is known as “a great place to live” by its residents - and it’s easy to see why! With excellent access to commuting routes, award-winning schools, welcoming neighborhoods, and a thriving town center, it is a popular choice for families and young professionals looking to move out of the city and into a strong community.
The town’s commuter rail station is located in the heart of downtown and offers quick and easy access to Boston’s North Station (@30 mins travel time). There is also easy access to both I-93 and I-95, making it convenient to travel both north and south to access the beaches and mountains in the surrounding area. Logan International Airport is less than 15 miles away. The downtown area has a range of restaurants and local stores that give the town its character and appeal. If you are looking for more shopping opportunities, Crossing at Walkers Brook has retail chain stores such as The Paper Store, Staples, and Home Depot. Jordan’s Furniture, the famous furniture store, houses BeanTown, a replica of Downtown Boston made up of nearly twenty-five million Jelly Belly jelly beans. Within Beantown, you’ll also find an ice cream shop, BeanStalk Ropes Course, and a Liquid Fireworks show. The store is also home to the area’s only IMAX 3D Theater. Grocery stores Market Basket and Stop and Shop are also in Reading.
