Doll House Raffle for Charity

There is still time to make a big difference in someone's life. Buy raffle tickets for a chance to win a truly remarkable doll house. Beautifully decorated by the agents at Barrett Sotheby's International Realty, who have done so every year for 25 years. The tickets are currently on sale and all proceeds benefit the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. This may be the smallest house we sell every year, but it is one of the most important. Suggested donation: 10/$10, 3/$5, or $2 each. We will draw the winning ticket, Monday, December 22nd.

Remarkable Holiday Gifts

After all the Amazon items have been chosen, ordered and sent and you have worn through your favorite shoes at the mall; there are treasures still available for those with ready money and exquisite taste. At Sotheby's auction houses in New York and London you will find extraordinary jewels, European modern home furnishings from the Jon Stryker collection, Tiffany light fixtures and vases. Hmmm, a beautifully printed i.o.u. for an Apple Watch (available in January 2015) would also be a winner, ( in case my husband is reading this). So, get at it, there is still time and treasures!

Inspiring Home Seeks Imaginative Playmate

Tis the season to spread joy and the agents at Barrett Sotheby's International Realty have been doing that during the holiday season for 25 years, through their annual dollhouse raffle. The tickets are currently on sale and all proceeds benefit the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. This may be the smallest house we sell every year, but it is one of the most important. Here's a sneak peak at this year's masterpiece - stop by our office at 33 Walden Street, Concord to see the real thing. Suggested donation: 10/$10, 3/$5, or $2 each. We will draw the winning ticket, Monday, December 22nd.

The BIG Cheese

December 4th will mark the 5th annual Crucolo Cheese Parade, where The Concord Cheese Shop will welcome in a 400 lb. wheel of Crucolo cheese. The wheel, which is imported from the town of Scurelle in Trento, Italy, is and has been a product of the same family for the last 250 years. Still not impressed?, they are also the producers of the worlds largest salami!

Peter Lovis, longtime friend of both Barrett Sotheby's International Realty and the town of Concord, has been rolling out the red carpet in order to roll in the Crucolo cheese wheel for 5 years running. Anyone who has spent a moment with Peter can attest to the fact that, not only does he run an amazing cheese shop, but that he does so with an unmatched sense of passion. When the subject of Crucolo comes up however, his enthusiasm hits a level which is much to be admired. According to Peter, the Crucolo is a mild and creamy cheese most similar to an asiago fresco, but it's tasty bite at the end, is what brings everyone back for more. Crucolo makes an excellent melting cheese for fondue, grilled cheeses or even topping a tasty burger! While this wheel will weighs in at 400 lbs., the same family also produces a 1000 lb. wheel, which is only passed up, due to it not fitting through the door. On a side note: I've just begun taking apart my door frame. This is one of the kookiest and most delightful new traditions - music, horse-drawn cart, proclamations; believe me, you don't want to miss it!

Dressed to Impress, Holiday Table Settings

Setting a beautiful table is my favorite part of hosting a dinner party. Looking ahead to the polishing, ironing and floral arranging many of us will be doing to prepare for Thanksgiving next week, here is some thoughtful advice and inspiring images to get you in the mood.

Time for Good Wine

Recently the Sotheby's auction houses in New York and Hong Kong sold some of the best wines from the renowned cellar of Silicon Valley entrepreneur James H Clark. It's hard not to imagine the delight one of these wines would bring to a group of friends and family members gathered around an elegant table for a holiday meal. Well, maybe we cannot taste it for ourselves, but we can dream . . .

Existing Home Sales Report

October is coming to a close, and the holidays are steadily approaching. A characteristic that those of us in the housing market can get used to.

According to the National Association of Realtors' (NAR) Existing Home Sales Report "existing-home sales bounced back in September to their highest annual pace of the year." This meaning, completed transactions of single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and co-ops increased a staggering 2.4 percent in September over August.

Lawrence Yun, NAR Chief Economist accredits this gain to more consistent and affordable interest rates. For sellers experiencing a steady rise in sale price; it's not only healthy for our mental ROI reports, but also for the housing market in general. If you didn't catch July's Housing Data Reports, the housing market is showing a steady increase in "Median Sale Price" which is carrying over to the fall.

Be prepared for these numbers (and the temperature) to dip slightly in the coming months for the winter season, but it is great to see the housing market making both consistent and healthy growth.
