Our Realtors Recommend - February Vacation Fun!

February break is fast approaching, and if you're planning a staycation in the Boston area, we've got plenty of ideas to keep the whole family entertained! Our knowledgeable agents not only know the local towns inside and out, but many are parents themselves—so they understand the challenge of keeping kids busy while making the most of your time off. Whether you're looking for outdoor adventures, creative indoor activities, or something new to explore, we’ve handpicked some top recommendations. Just be sure to check the weather and book in advance where needed!

For snow-lovers there are plenty of local slopes offering fun activities for both skiers and non-skiers. Ski Ward Ski Area in Shrewsbury and Nashoba Valley Snow Tubing Park in Littleton both offer snowtubing (advance booking required. Some height/age restrictions apply - best for ages 6+.) Or why not try your hand at curling? Head to Boston’s Seaport, which has been transformed into Snowport for the season - it’s free and you can book a slot up to a week in advance. Keep an eye out for Betty the Yeti while you are there!

Staying outside, and if weather permits, The Trustee of the Reservations are hosting some fun Feb vacation week activities at select locations, including Presidents Day Family Yoga at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, and a Winter Scavenger Hunt in at Stevens-Coolidge House and Gardens in North Andover. Fruitlands Museum is also hosting Winter Fest with the Harvard Lions Club on Saturday Feb 22nd, with a host of activities for the whole family.

For outdoor fun that needs no planning, take a walk in one of our many nearby state parks and reservations. The Middlesex Fells in WinchesterMinute Man Park in ConcordGreat Meadows also in Concord, and Willard Woods in Lexington are all good places to explore. Or head into the city and take a stroll through Boston Common and the Public Garden, or along the Rose Kennedy Greenway (don’t forget to say hello to the seals outside the Aquarium!)

If you are into animal adventures, head to Stone Zoo in Stoneham or Franklin Park Zoo in Boston - both are open to visitors year-round and there are plenty of animals on exhibit. Now is a great time to spot the snow leopards at Stone Zoo – a particular agent favorite! Non-members need to purchase their tickets in advance online.

Looking for indoor pastimes? Check out our favorite kid-friendly museums including Museum of ScienceBoston Children’s Museum and New England Aquarium for an undercover day out. The ICA have some fun art-making activities and a life-size Snakes and Ladders!  If you don’t want to travel into the city, Discovery Museum in Acton is open all week with special activities, and Concord Museum also has some family activities planned.

Finally, put a fun spin on eating out by booking a table in an igloo! The Inn at Hastings Park in Lexington offers igloos for up to 6 people for brunch, lunch or dinner. For an igloo with a view try Mile Marker One in Gloucester.

If you have other suggestion for fun things to do, please let us know! Whatever you decide to do, we hope you enjoy some family time together.
