Summer Sounds: Outdoor Concerts Along the Patriots' Trail

Summer in Boston's northwest suburbs means long evenings, warm weather, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy live music outdoors. Whether you're looking for classical music, family entertainment, or a tribute band for your favorite artist, these community events are one of the best ways to experience the season.

We’ve compiled a list of our favorite outdoor concert series happening across the Patriot's Trail region this summer - grab your picnic blanket or lawn chairs and join us there!

Acton

NARA Park Concerts

Summer at NARA Park means live music under the stars. The NARA Park Concert Series kicks off on Friday, July 10th, featuring tribute bands, themed performances, and family events throughout the season. Music fans can enjoy tributes to iconic artists including Maroon 5, The Who, and The Cars. Families with younger children should also mark their calendars for Tuesday Kids Concert Nights beginning July 14th, offering entertainment designed especially for younger audiences.

Bedford

Summer Concert Series

The Town of Bedford's popular Summer Concert Series returns this July at the Bedford Activity Complex, located at 12 Mudge Way. Concerts take place on Thursday evenings from July 9th - Aug 6th, bringing live music and community spirit to one of Bedford's favorite gathering spots.

Carlisle 

Carlisle Music Festival at Old Home Day

Celebrate summer at the Carlisle Music Festival at Old Home Day, taking place Friday, June 19th - Sunday, June 21st and featuring hometown talent, food, and family-friendly activities.

Concord

Rideout Park Concerts

Head to West Concord for a series of free outdoor concerts at Rideout Park. Concerts take place at 6pm on Thursdays from July 10 thru August 7 and feature live music, food trucks, face painting, and family-friendly fun. It's one of Concord's most popular summer traditions and a great way to spend an evening with the whole family.

Lexington

Lexington Chamber of Commerce Summer Concert Series

The Lexington Chamber of Commerce Summer Concert Series returns to Emery Park in Depot Square on Friday evenings from July 10 through August 21. Located in the heart of downtown Lexington, these free performances make the perfect accompaniment to dinner, shopping, or an evening stroll.

Lexington Bicentennial Band Summer Concert Series

A cherished local tradition, the Lexington Bicentennial Band performs on Tuesday evenings from June 23 through August 25. Most concerts take place at the Levi Burnell Bandstand in Hastings Park and feature marches, Broadway favorites, movie themes, patriotic music, and light classical selections. Bring a blanket, pack a picnic, and enjoy a classic New England summer evening.

Lincoln

Codman Pool Summer Concerts

The Codman Pool Summer Concert Series returns on Wednesday evenings from July 8 through July 29. These free concerts offer a relaxed atmosphere for enjoying live music outdoors, and families won't want to miss Vanessa Trien's Family Night performance on July 22.

Stoneham

Summer Concert Series

Stoneham's popular Summer Concert Series on the Town Common returns for another season of free live music and community fun. Concerts take place on Thursday evenings from June 18 through July 30 at 7pm, bringing residents together for live entertainment, food vendors, family activities, and the popular summer beer garden.

Westford

Kimball Farm Music Series

Few summer destinations are as iconic as Kimball Farm, and its popular Music Series returns once again this season. Concerts take place on the outdoor stage behind the batting cages from 6 - 8 pm on Fridays and Saturdays through August 29. Admission is free, though seating is first come, first served. Grab some ice cream, enjoy dinner outdoors, and settle in for a fun summer evening of live music.

Winchester

Concerts on the Common

Winchester Recreation's Concerts on the Common take place on Wednesdays from July 8 through August 12, beginning at 6:30pm. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy free performances in the heart of downtown.

Family Farm Nights at Wright-Locke Farm

For a more rustic setting, head to Wright-Locke Farm for their popular Family Farm Nights concert series. These free performances take place on July 14, July 21, August 4, and August 11, featuring family-friendly performers including Matt Heaton & The Outside Toys. A cash bar for adults and snacks for all make this a favorite summer outing for local families.

Looking Beyond Our Backyard

If you're looking to explore neighboring communities, several other towns host outstanding summer music events as well.

Arlington hosts its popular Reservoir Concert Series on alternating Thursday evenings from June 25 through August 20.

Burlington offers free Family Concerts and Children's Shows on the Town Common every Tuesday and Wednesday from June 30 through August 12.

Harvard invites visitors to Fruitlands Museum for sunset picnic concerts on Thursday evenings from July 2 through August 6, complete with sweeping views of the Nashua River Valley.

Maynard Community Band Summer Concerts begin June 25 and continue every Wednesday evening throughout the summer at Maynard Memorial Park.
